In short
Galvanized, pre-painted and trapezoidal sheet prices are driven by the steel raw material market and exchange rates, plus thickness, coating class, grade, paint, processing, quantity and delivery. Because prices change often, compare quotes in the same unit (kg, m² or metre) and on the same terms.

Why there is no fixed price list
The main costs of galvanized and pre-painted sheet are hot-rolled steel coil and zinc. Both trade on international markets and depend on exchange rates; prices move weekly and sometimes daily. A list published on a website may already be out of date when read, so we price at the time of the quote, on the terms of your order. Below we explain what drives price and how to compare quotes.
What drives the price
| Factor | Effect on price |
|---|---|
| Steel and zinc markets, exchange rate | Sets the base price for every product |
| Thickness | Thicker sheet means more kilos; very thin gauges usually carry a higher price per kg because they cost more to produce |
| Coating class (Z100–Z275) | More zinc, higher price and longer life |
| Steel grade | DX51D is the most common and economical; deep-drawing and structural grades cost more |
| Paint and colour | Pre-painted costs more than galvanized; durable systems such as PVDF and less common colours add cost |
| Form and processing | Coil is the most economical form; cutting, slitting and roll-forming add labour |
| Quantity | Unit price usually falls as tonnage rises; on very small orders handling and transport costs cannot be spread |
| Delivery location and lead time | Distance, vehicle type and urgent delivery affect cost |
Price units: kg, tonne, m² and metre
Coil and sheet are usually priced per kg or tonne, trapezoidal sheet per metre or m², and small sheet orders per piece. To compare quotes in different units, convert one to the other. With steel density at 7.85 kg/dm³:
- Weight of 1 m² (kg) ≈ thickness (mm) × 7.85
- Price per m² ≈ price per kg × thickness (mm) × 7.85
Example: 1 m² of 0.50 mm sheet weighs about 3.93 kg, so a quote of X per kg is about 3.93 × X per m². The zinc coating adds slightly to the weight. Use the steel sheet weight calculator for your size.
The m² trap with trapezoidal sheet: developed vs effective width
Trapezoidal sheet is roll-formed from flat sheet; the width of that flat sheet is the developed width and the width covered after installation is the effective width, which is always smaller. If one quote prices per m² of developed width and another per m² of effective width, the totals for the same roof will differ. The safest comparison is to give your real roof dimensions and ask for a total. See trapezoidal sheet sizes.
Checklist for comparing quotes
- VAT: is the price including or excluding VAT?
- Delivery: ex-warehouse or delivered to site?
- Thickness: are nominal thickness and tolerance stated? Thinner sheet looks cheaper but is not the same product.
- Coating class and grade: are the Z value and grade (e.g. DX51D+Z275) stated? See galvanized steel grade codes.
- Weight basis: theoretical weight or weighbridge weight?
- Pre-painted: same paint system (PE, SMP, PVDF) and RAL code?
- Validity and terms: how many days is the quote valid, and what are the payment terms?
What to send for a fast, accurate quote
- Product and form: flat sheet, coil, slit strip, pre-painted sheet, trapezoidal type
- Thickness, width and length (or roof dimensions)
- Coating class, grade; RAL code for pre-painted
- Quantity or tonnage
- Delivery location and required date
See galvanized sheet, pre-painted steel and trapezoidal sheets. Send the details with the quote form and we will reply with a current price.
